Privacy Policy

Summary
Expense Whisper is designed as a local-first app. Your entries are stored on your device in browser IndexedDB. You decide if and when data is backed up to Google Sheets.
What Data Is Stored
- Income values by month
- Expense records (name, amount, category, status, timestamps)
- App preferences (selected month, currency, onboarding state)
- Backup settings (spreadsheet ID, sheet names, auto-backup preference)
How Data Is Used
Data is used only to power budgeting, summaries, charts, CSV import/export, and optional cloud backup workflows in the app.
Google Sheets Backup
When you connect Google, OAuth is handled by Google Identity Services. If you choose to back up, selected records are written to the spreadsheet you provide. You can restore from that sheet at any time.
The app does not run a project backend that stores your financial entries.
Speech Features
Dictation and guided speech run through browser speech APIs. Spoken input is used to populate fields and is not persisted by the app unless you save the entry.
Security Notes
- Only use the app on trusted devices.
- Protect your Google account and spreadsheet access.
- Use CSV exports for independent backups.
Your Controls
- Delete entries in the app at any time.
- Disable auto-backup whenever you want.
- Clear browser site data to remove all local records.
